Information and Backstory Those born with the power to physically enhance themselves are known as Ardents. Although their powers are limited, they are able to temporarily boost their physical prowess by becoming faster, stronger, or more agile.
Ardents tend to excel in professions where a fit body would serve them well. Many Ardents end up with careers in law enforcement and the military, or take up careers in the private sector as bodyguards or professional athletes. They are viewed by others as being physically gifted with an unnatural knack for excelling at anything they can apply their body to.
History The first documented Ardent appeared later than most of the other factions. The first written recording appeared in 1096 after Pope Urban II called for the First Crusade. A Muslim woman, Jawaria Abd al-Rạhmān, was recorded by a Christian Crusader as having possessed the "strength, speed and dexterity most unnatural for a woman." The Witch, as she became known, was responsible for the countless deaths among the Crusader ranks before she was finally captured, tortured and then put to a humiliating death. During the Siege of Antioch, Abd al-Rạhmān fought bravely alongside her Muslim brothers to defend the city against the Crusader terror. The stories of her feats were well-documented by Muslim scholars and a lock of her hair, uncovered and then shorn as an act of brutality against both her sex and her faith, is still kept secret and hidden by the Pope of the Rome.
